A Band Camp Retreat Like No Other
At Orange Springs Retreat Center, you’ll have exclusive use of our entire facility. And we would be honored to host your next Band camp. After more than two years of band camp silence, it’s time to play and hear music again. This year’s Band camp retreat at Orange Springs Retreat Center will be like no other. Instead of the virtual band practices we’ve come to hate, it’s time to get outside, band together, and listen to the music.
Orange Springs Retreat is the perfect venue to re-energize your band. Our retreat center, located just outside the Ocala National Forest, is equipped with both indoor and outdoor basketball courts and a soccer field perfect for marching band practice. And when your band is not marching to the beat of a drum, they can participate in team-building exercises or get their creative juices flowing by walking along the wooded trails.
There is simply something for everyone here at Orange Springs Retreat. At this year’s band camp, you’ll learn how to march, learn your sets, and memorize the show tunes that separate your marching band from the others. You’ll also have time to concentrate on rehearsals and bond with your band members. Even so, time sure does fly, and over the past two years, Freshmen and Sophomores have become Juniors and Seniors, plus Juniors and Seniors have moved on.
And because it’s been such a long time since the last camp, there are some things we will be working on during this year’s band camp. However, your week-long camp schedule will be flexible enough for you to have fun too.
Developing Instrumental Performance Skills
You’ll be able to focus on performance skills or the way you learn music, become centered, have stage presence, manage stress, and handle errors.
Exposure To Varied Music And Musical Activities
At this year’s band camp retreat, you will explore various kinds of music and a new twist on an old theme. The schedule is chocked full of musical, leadership, and other fun activities you’ll never forget.
Developing Rhythmic And Melodic Reading Skills
A sense of rhythm is vital to the success of any instrumentalist. The lack of rhythm causes you to be out of step and gets you lost in the music. As a result, the rest of the band missteps and loses the tempo.
Tone quality
You’ll be able to strengthen your tone and avoid a weak, thin sound. There will be lots of time to practice.
Intonation
There will be plenty of opportunities for tunning your instruments to a standard pitch, resulting in good intonation.
Phrasing
Musical phrasing is similar to a spoken sentence. And since you don’t take a breath in the middle of a sentence, you’ll need to know the right time to take a breath while playing your instrument.
Orange Springs Retreat is a unique place for your band camp retreat. It is a serene and private retreat center that spreads out over 100 acres. They also have several rooms of various sizes that can be used for different sections of your band. One of the major advantages of using Orange Springs Retreat is that you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of activities every day.
With time to focus on you and the band, this camp will be a band camp like no other.
Your day will begin early with a light breakfast. After breakfast, you’ll be busy with morning rehearsals. Then, after lunch, you’ll gather on the soccer field to practice marching.
After a couple of hours on the field, you’ll be free to choose from a number of fun activities before gathering for dinner. Your choices of fun activities include swimming, canoeing, paddle boating, and beach volleyball, so don’t forget your swimsuits.
You’ll need to bring some things along to make this camp successful and memorable.
