Creating Your Perfect Retreat Itinerary: Activities & Sample Schedules at Orange Springs Retreat Center
When you book Orange Springs Retreat Center, you get the entire 100+ acre private campus — lodging, dining hall, meeting spaces, spring-fed lake with white-sand beach, sports fields, and recreation equipment — exclusively for your group. That freedom is powerful, but it also means the itinerary is yours to design.
We don’t run a canned program. Instead, we give you the setting, equipment, and on-site support so you can build a schedule that matches your group’s goals: spiritual renewal, leadership development, team bonding, rest, or pure fun. Most activities are available 24/7 at no extra cost. The only items that require advance arrangement are professionally facilitated ropes/climbing elements.

Below you’ll find the full activity menu, practical planning tips, and a ready-to-use sample weekend itinerary you can customize.
Why a Thoughtful Itinerary Matters
A good retreat schedule has rhythm. Too packed and people burn out. Too loose and energy dissipates. The strongest itineraries balance:
- Structured sessions (teaching, worship, workshops, breakouts)
- Active recreation that builds shared memories
- Unstructured breathing room where real conversations happen
At Orange Springs the private lake, open fields, and evening campfires make that balance easy. Groups consistently tell us that some of their best moments happen while paddling, walking the trails, or sitting around the fire after the formal program ends.

Indoor & Flexible Spaces
- Meeting rooms with AV (portable sound system + large TVs with HDMI)
- Indoor spaces suitable for art, drama, dance, or small-group work

Adventure (advance arrangement required)
High ropes, low ropes, climbing wall, and challenge elements are available with a professional facilitator. Contact us early if you want these on the schedule.
Tips for Building Your Schedule
- Start with your primary goal (worship & teaching, leadership training, team bonding, rest/recovery, or pure recreation) and protect those blocks first.
- Schedule high-energy activities (lake, sports, archery, ropes) in the afternoon when energy is high.
- Protect evening campfire or free time — these are often the most meaningful parts of the weekend.
- Build in 30–60 minutes of buffer between major blocks. Transitions take longer with large groups.
- Leave at least one significant open recreation block so participants can choose what they need.
- Share the draft schedule with your leadership team early and with the Orange Springs team so we can coordinate meals, archery times, and any ropes facilitation.

Variations that work well
- Youth / high school: Expand the Saturday recreation block and add a late-night game or talent show.
- Corporate / leadership: Replace one evening session with facilitated team challenges or low-ropes elements.
- Wellness / women’s: Add morning yoga or meditation on the pavilion or beach and keep recreation lighter.
- Church / spiritual: Protect longer worship and small-group blocks; use the campfire for testimonies or worship.
