June 2026 | Perfect for 2027 Spring Retreat Planning

Spring is one of the best seasons for church youth retreats. Florida’s mild weather, longer days, and natural beauty create the perfect backdrop for Jr. High and Sr. High School students to step away from daily distractions, grow in their faith, build real relationships, and make memories that last.

Over the years, we’ve hosted many church groups whose retreat schedules follow a very similar rhythm to the real-world example below. This sample comes from a past successful spring youth retreat and demonstrates a thoughtful, balanced flow that many youth pastors have found highly effective.

Whether you’re planning a classic weekend getaway or want to expand it into a full 3-night / 4-day retreat, this structure is an excellent foundation you can adapt.

Sample Church Youth Retreat Schedule:

Pre-Retreat Preparation

Sunday, March 1, 2026 (Example Date)

  • 5:00 PM – Final Payments & Registration Due: Groups gather at the church Fellowship Hall to complete final payments, turn in notarized health forms, and submit signed Code of Conduct forms. This step keeps the on-site experience focused on ministry rather than logistics.

Friday, March 6, 2026 – Arrival, Orientation & First Session

The retreat officially begins with excitement and intentional setup.

  • 3:00 PM — Arrive at church. Place luggage in trailer, sign in at the welcome table, and gather in the Worship Center for orientation.
  • 4:30 PM — Load vehicles and depart. Devotion #1 happens on the road (smart use of travel time).
  • 7:00 PM — Arrive at camp. Unload luggage and move into cabins.
  • 7:30 PM — First Session: Leader introductions, Praise & Worship, opening message, and small group discussion.
  • 9:30 PM — Sr. High Campfire with s’mores.
  • 10:30 PM — In cabins: Introductions and choosing Secret Pals (a relational highlight that builds throughout the weekend).
  • 11:00 PM — Lights out. Everyone inside their cabins.

Saturday, March 7, 2026 – Full Day of Teaching, Adventure & Connection

This is the core day of the retreat, with a strong rhythm of spiritual input, discussion, and fun.

Morning

  • 7:00 AM — Rise and Shine + quick showers.
  • 7:45 AM — Devotion #2 by the lake. Students bring their Bible and pen for quiet time — incredibly powerful in a peaceful outdoor setting.
  • 8:00 AM — Jr. High Breakfast
  • 8:20 AM — Sr. High Breakfast (staggered to manage flow)
  • 9:00 AM — Morning Session: Group pictures, games, Praise & Worship, second message, and small groups.
  • 11:30 AM — Basic Beliefs Class (45-minute deeper teaching track).
  • 12:00 PM — Lunch for everyone except the Basic Beliefs class.
  • 12:15 PM — Basic Beliefs class joins the group for lunch.

Afternoon & Evening

  • 1:00 PM — Free Time with excellent activity options: Kayaks, Paddle Boats, Crafts, Jewelry Making, Game Room, Swimming Pool, Gaga Ball, Basketball, Rockwall on the lake, and a structured Recreational Game Schedule.
  • 5:00 PM — Basic Beliefs class continues while others help with dinner prep or clean-up.
  • 6:00 PM — Dinner
  • 7:00 PM — Evening Session: Third message, Praise & Worship, small groups, and prayer time.
  • 9:30 PM — Jr. High Campfire and s’mores.
  • 10:30 PM — In cabins for Devotion #3 led by counselors + Secret Pals reveal.
  • 11:00 PM — Lights out.

Sunday, March 8, 2026 – Closing Strong & Sending Well

A purposeful finish helps students process what God did and return home ready to live it out.

  • 7:00 AM — Rise and Shine + quick showers.
  • 7:45 AM — Devotion #4 by the lake with Bible and pen.
  • 8:00 AM — Breakfast
  • 8:45 AM — Pack-up, clean-up, and load luggage.
  • 9:30 AM — Closing Morning Session: Testimony sharing & evaluations, Praise & Worship, final message, discussion groups, communion, closing, and summer camp invitation.
  • 11:30 AM — Lunch
  • 12:15 PM — Load vehicles and depart camp.
  • 3:00 PM — Arrive back at church. Unload trailers and head home.

Note: “NO YOUTH GROUP SUNDAY MARCH 8th!! REST IN THE LORD!!” — Giving students and families space to rest and process is wise leadership.

Why This Schedule Works So Well

This isn’t just a packed calendar — it’s intentionally designed with proven elements:

  • Balanced Spiritual Rhythm: Clear teaching (main sessions + breakout classes) followed by discussion, personal application (lakefront devotions), and corporate response (testimonies, communion).
  • Relational Connection: Secret Pals, counselor-led cabin devotions, small groups, and campfires create natural bonding.
  • Physical Energy Release: High-quality free time options keep students engaged and create shared memories.
  • Healthy Margins: Defined lights-out times, staggered meals, and a relaxed Sunday return prevent burnout.
  • Leadership Clarity: Age-appropriate tracks, designated roles, and a clear flow from arrival to departure.
